Entry requirements

What you need from Nepal

  • After +2: any stream, with good English, for most hospitality bachelor's and diplomas.
  • For a master's: a bachelor's in any field; hospitality or tourism experience helps a lot.
  • Experience: hotel, restaurant or trekking work in Nepal makes your statement credible.
  • English: IELTS 5.5 to 6.5 depending on level and country.

Levels and course types

Which level fits you

  • Diplomas (1 to 2 years): practical, cheaper, a route into a bachelor's.
  • Bachelor's in hospitality or hotel management (3 to 4 years), often with an industry placement.
  • Master's in tourism or hospitality management (1 to 2 years), for graduates moving into management.

Registration and language

Before you can work in the field

No licence is needed. Food safety and responsible service of alcohol certificates are required for many jobs in Australia; you get them in a day or two after you arrive.

After study

Jobs, honestly

Hospitality has jobs everywhere, which makes part-time work easier to find. But entry-level pay is low, and moving into management takes years. In Cyprus and Australia, many graduates stay in hotels and restaurants; in Europe, language decides how far you rise.

Choose hospitality because you like the work. Students who chose it as a shortcut to a visa often regret it.

How we help

Your hospitality and hotel management application

We use your hotel or restaurant experience in your statement, find placements that count towards your degree, and check that the course and country fit your budget without counting on part-time work.

An honest note

This isn't the right course for you if

  • You're choosing hospitality only as a route to work abroad. Visa officers and the work rules both catch that.
  • You expect full-time work while studying in Cyprus. The rules don't allow it.
  • You don't enjoy customer-facing work.

Questions about studying hospitality and hotel management abroad

Which country is best for hotel management for Nepali students?

Australia for the size of the industry, Cyprus for the lowest cost, Finland for scholarships. Switzerland is famous for hotel schools but we don't cover it.

How much does hotel management abroad cost from Nepal?

From about Rs 22 lakh for the first year in Cyprus to Rs 66 lakh or more in Australia, all in. Each country page has the full breakdown.

Can I study hospitality after +2 science or management?

Yes. Most hospitality programmes accept any +2 stream with good English.

Is hotel management good for PR?

Not on its own any more. Some hospitality roles are on skill lists, but the routes have narrowed. Choose it for the career, not the PR list.

Can I work while studying hospitality abroad?

Yes, within each country's rules: 48 hours a fortnight in Australia, 30 hours a week on average in Finland, and only limited hours in set sectors in Cyprus. Bishal planned his budget without work.
