Study business or an MBA abroad from Nepal

Business is the most popular field we file, and the most crowded after graduation. An MBA abroad usually needs 2 to 3 years of work experience; a BBA or business master's doesn't. Australia, the UK and the Netherlands are where most of our students go. Last year 298 of our 331 business files were approved.

Business is the field where our approval rate is lowest (90.0%), because visa officers look hardest at whether a business degree follows from your background. A BBS graduate with banking experience applying for finance reads well. A science graduate with no work applying for an MBA doesn't.

Entry requirements

What you need from Nepal

  • After +2: any stream for most BBA programmes, with good English and maths.
  • Business master's: a bachelor's in any field at many universities, related fields preferred.
  • MBA: usually 2 to 3 years of full-time work after your bachelor's; some ask for GMAT.
  • English: IELTS 6.0 to 6.5 for most programmes.

Levels and course types

Which level fits you

  • BBA (3 to 4 years): straight after +2.
  • Master's in business, finance, marketing or management (1 to 2 years): for graduates, with little or no work experience.
  • MBA (1 to 2 years): for people with real work experience who want to move up.
  • Professional accounting master's: check which professional bodies accredit the course.

Registration and language

Before you can work in the field

Business has no licence, but accounting does: in Australia, CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants ANZ accreditation of your course matters if you want to work as an accountant. In the UK, ACCA and other bodies give exemptions for accredited degrees.

Ask which bodies accredit the course before you accept an offer.

After study

Jobs, honestly

Honestly: business graduates find it hardest to get a skilled job after study, in every country we cover, because so many international students choose business. The ones who do well have work experience before the degree, internships during it, and a specialisation (analytics, supply chain, finance) rather than a general degree.

An MBA pays off most for people who already have a career to build on. Without work experience, a specialised master's is usually the better choice.

How we help

Your business and mba application

We check that your degree follows from your background (the thing visa officers look at hardest in business files), help you choose a specialisation employers ask for, and write a statement that explains your plan with real numbers.

An honest note

This isn't the right course for you if

  • You want an MBA with no work experience. A specialised master's will serve you better.
  • You're choosing business because it's the easiest admission. It's also the hardest job market.
  • Your bachelor's is unrelated and you can't explain why business is your next step.

Questions about studying business and mba abroad

Can I do an MBA abroad without work experience?

Some universities accept it, but most good MBAs ask for 2 to 3 years, and visa officers question an MBA with no experience. A specialised master's in finance, analytics or management is usually the better choice.

Which country is cheapest for an MBA from Nepal?

Cyprus and Belgium have the lowest costs among our countries. Asmita did an MBA in Nicosia for under Rs 25 lakh.

Is a business degree good for PR?

General business degrees are the weakest for PR in most countries. Accounting can be stronger with the right accreditation, but it's crowded too.

Can I study BBA abroad after +2 science?

Yes. Most BBA programmes accept any +2 stream with good English.

What is the visa risk for business students?

Higher than other fields: our approval rate for business files was 90.0% last year. The fix is a course that clearly follows from your background and a statement that explains it.
