Where Aashma started
Aashma walked in with her refusal letter folded into a plastic sleeve. Another agent had lodged her Australian student visa in 2024, and it came back refused. She assumed Australia was finished for her and wanted to talk about Cyprus.
Her parents run a hardware shop in Bharatpur. They had already paid one visa fee and a tuition deposit, and her father's question was simple: why would a second file go any differently?
What we found
We read the refusal letter line by line. The officer wasn't refusing her marks, her English or her money. The letter said the officer wasn't satisfied she was a genuine student, and pointed to two years after her +2 that the file didn't explain.
Those two years weren't empty. Aashma had kept the shop's books: daily sales, supplier bills, the VAT returns. The first agent had written "she helped in the family business" and attached nothing.
So we didn't start over. Same university, same course, because accounting followed directly from what she'd been doing. We told her plainly what we wouldn't do: change the course to something that sounded better, or file again before the gap was proved.

The result
The visa was granted 91 days after her first visit to us. Aashma is in the second year of her accounting degree in Sydney and works 18 to 20 hours a week in a bakery during term.
Her refusal is still on her immigration record, and she'll declare it on every future application. That's fine: the second file answers it.
In Aashma's words
I thought the refusal meant Australia was over for me. They showed me it was one paragraph in a letter, and that paragraph could be fixed.
We kept the shop's tax papers for the government. I never thought they would help my daughter's visa.
What it cost
| Our fee (one application file) | Rs 20,000 |
|---|---|
| Student visa fee, second application (December 2024) | AUD 1,600 |
| Tuition deposit | Carried over from the first application |
| Health cover (OSHC), 1 year | About AUD 700 |
Shared with Aashma's written consent. The fee she lost on the first refusal isn't counted here. Visa fees have risen since: AUD 2,500 from 1 July 2026.
If your profile looks like this
- 1
Read the refusal letter before you re-apply. The reason is written down, and the next officer will read your old file too. See how the Australia process works.
- 2
A gap isn't the problem; an empty gap is. Keep letters, tax records and certificates for whatever you did.
- 3
Don't change course just to look like a fresh start. A plan that follows from your background reads as more genuine.
