Study in Cyprus from Nepal

Studying in Cyprus from Nepal costs about Rs 22 lakh to Rs 37 lakh for the first year, among the lowest in Europe. We only place students at recognised universities in the Republic of Cyprus, never in the north. Work rights are limited, so plan your budget without them. Last year 53 of our 55 Cyprus files were approved.

The essentials

Cyprus: cost, entry and work rules

Cyprus is the budget option in Europe: English-taught degrees at private universities, low tuition, and living costs well below Western Europe. It's a member of the EU.

Two honest warnings. First, universities in the north of the island (the area that calls itself the TRNC) aren't recognised by the Republic of Cyprus or most of the EU, and some agents in Nepal sell them as "Cyprus". We never do. Second, student work rights are limited, and Cyprus has no general post-study work permit.

Study in Cyprus: the essentials
TuitionAbout €3,500 to €9,000 a year at private universities teaching in English (about Rs 6 lakh to Rs 15.4 lakh). Public universities teach mostly in Greek.
Living fundsSet out in your university's admission and entry permit papers; expect to show roughly €7,000 to €10,000 for the year. Sources disagree, so we confirm the current figure with the university and the migration department for each file.
First-year costAbout Rs 22 lakh to Rs 37 lakh: tuition, living costs, entry and residence fees, insurance and your flight.
Entry after +2Most private universities accept a +2 with a pass and an English test or their own English placement.
Entry after a bachelor'sA related bachelor's for most master's and MBAs.
English scoreIELTS 5.5 to 6.0 for most programmes, or the university's own test.
IntakesSeptember and February at most private universities.
Work while studyingLimited: after your first 6 months, part-time work in specific sectors with a contract approved by the Department of Labour. Don't plan your budget on it.
Stay after studyNo general post-study work permit; you'd need an employer to sponsor a work permit.
RecognitionRepublic of Cyprus universities only. Degrees from the north aren't recognised by the Republic or most EU countries.
Rupee figures at Rs 171.38 per EUR (Nepal Rastra Bank sell rate, 18 October 2026). Funds and work rules are confirmed for each file with the university and the Civil Registry and Migration Department.

Part-time work, honestly

Many Nepali students go to Cyprus expecting to work full-time. That's not how the rules work. Students can usually work only after their first 6 months, for limited hours, in specific sectors such as hospitality, agriculture and delivery, and with a contract the Department of Labour approves.

Agents who promise easy full-time work in Cyprus are selling a work visa disguised as a study visa. Students who work outside the rules lose their permit. Budget as if you'll earn nothing in year 1.

After study

Cyprus has no general post-study work permit. Some graduates find employers willing to sponsor them; many move on to a master's elsewhere in Europe with an EU-recognised degree. Hospitality, shipping and IT are the main employers of foreign graduates.

Culture and daily life

Cyprus is warm, safe and English is widely spoken. The Nepali community is sizeable, many working in care and hospitality. Summers are very hot; buses are the main public transport and run less often than in Western Europe.

Plan each step in detail

Each step above has its own guide, written by a counsellor and checked against the official source.

What happens after

After you land in Cyprus

Your first month

Do your medical tests, apply for your temporary residence permit, enrol and open a bank account. Your counsellor calls you within 7 days of landing.

Work and study, honestly

Expect year 1 without income. If you work later, keep to the hours and sectors your permit allows. We've helped students who were told otherwise by other agents; the fix is always slower than doing it right.

After graduation

There's no general post-study work permit. Graduates either find an employer who sponsors a work permit, return home, or continue to a master's elsewhere in Europe. An EU-recognised degree makes that last option realistic.

Our support after you land

The same counsellor stays with you until you graduate: permit renewals, course transfers, or problems with an employer.

Be honest with yourself

Is Cyprus right for you?

Good fit

Cyprus is a good fit if

  • Your budget is under Rs 35 lakh for the first year and you want an English-taught European degree.
  • You want hospitality, business or IT in a warm, English-speaking setting.
  • You plan to use the degree for a master's elsewhere in Europe later.

An honest note

Cyprus is not the right choice if

  • You're planning to work full-time to support your family. Cyprus is a study route, not a work visa.
  • You've been offered a cheap place in the north (TRNC). We'll explain why we won't touch it.
  • You need a post-study work visa. Cyprus doesn't have a general one.

Anyone who promises easy work in Cyprus is selling you something else. We've seen the files: students sent to the north, or told they could work full-time from week 1. Since the 8 July 2026 law, misleading claims can cost a consultancy its licence.

Questions about studying in Cyprus

How much does it cost to study in Cyprus from Nepal?

About Rs 22 lakh to Rs 37 lakh for the first year: tuition of €3,500 to €9,000 at a private university, living costs, entry and residence fees, insurance and your flight, at Rs 171.38 per EUR (18 October 2026).

Is North Cyprus the same as Cyprus?

No. The north of the island is controlled by an administration only Turkey recognises. Its universities aren't recognised by the Republic of Cyprus or most EU countries, and students can't legally use them as a route into the EU. We only place students in the Republic of Cyprus. Dawa's story shows the difference.

Can students work in Cyprus?

Only in a limited way: usually after your first 6 months, part-time, in specific sectors, with a contract the Department of Labour approves. Don't plan your budget on it.

Do I need IELTS for Cyprus?

Most private universities accept IELTS 5.5 to 6.0, or their own English test. A few accept earlier English-medium study.

How long does a Cyprus student visa take?

The university applies for your entry permit; it usually takes 4 to 8 weeks once your documents are complete. First call to flight is often 3 to 5 months.

Can I stay in Cyprus after my degree?

Cyprus has no general post-study work permit. You'd need an employer to sponsor a work permit, or you can continue to a master's elsewhere in Europe.
